Opened in December 2009, MGM's ambitious Project CityCenter occupies over 70 acres on the Las Vegas Strip and is the largest privately funded project in the history of the United States.

With so many of Las Vegas' properties devoted to individual themes, CityCenter was designed and developed to offer a level modern urbanism and contemporary design to well traveled visitors that previously only existed in the world's major cites. World renowned Architects were hired to design a stunning complex of buildings to house a generous variety of uniquely styled hotel, residential, retail dining, entertainment and gaming venues. MGM's Executives were not only focused on high design, but also sensitivity to the environment and charged their project team with the task of ensuring the project would achieve LEED accreditation.

Such an immense project with literally hundreds of consultants on board required MGM to engage the services of the world's largest architecture firm, Gensler to oversee the entire design and construction process. Illuminating Concepts was offered the role of Executive Lighting Consultant to assist Gensler and MGM's Design team directly in overseeing the design, peer review, integration, procurement direction and implementation of the entire project lighting package.

The results have already received rave reviews from all who have visited, marveling at the sheer scale, quality and modern aesthetic. MGM's determination to complete the project during the worst financial period in modern times is ultimately the projects greatest feat, and is surely well appreciated by its 12,000 new employees.
